COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This advanced training aims to develop the ability to assess ergonomic risk factors in the workplace and to apply basic ergonomic principles to manage identified risks and prevent occupational and work-related injuries and illnesses.

PREREQUISITE:

Participants must have taken any one of these courses:

1. Basic Occupational Safety and Health Training Course for Safety Officers
2. Basic Occupational Safety and Health Training Course for Nurses
3. Construction Occupational Safety and Health Training Course
4. Basic Course in Occupational Medicine
5. Postgraduate Course in Occupational Health and Safety

TRAINING OUTCOME:

At the end of this self-directed virtual training, participants should be able to apply the principles and concepts on workplace ergonomics and develop strategies in managing identified risks and preventing the occurrence and recurrence of occupational and work-related injuries and illnesses.

1. Explain the concepts, principles, and relevance of ergonomics in the workplace;
2. Describe the ergonomic issues and risks associated with factors inherent in the worker, job, and environment;
3. Recognize ergonomic risk factors that can cause adverse health effects;
4. Evaluate ergonomic risk factors using basic tools and instruments;
5. Recommend basic control measures against ergonomic risk factors;
6. Describe the steps in establishing an ergonomics program;
7. Demonstrate the process of conducting an ergonomic assessment and proposing recommendations to reduce ergonomic risk factors; and
8. Prepare a draft re-entry plan to develop or improve ergonomic conditions in their companies or establishments.
