COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Mental Health is a pervasive problem that transcends geographic or socio-economic boundaries.  Most of those having mental health issues are workers that affect their lives and productivity.

The Department of Labor and Employment developed this course in response to the increasing concerns of mental health in establishments and to implement the workplace provisions of the Republic Act 11036 or the Mental Health Act. This training is in compliance with the Department Order 208-20, Guidelines for the Implementation of Mental Health Workplace Policies and Programs in the Private Sector where companies are required to craft their own mental health policies and programs in their respective establishments.

PREREQUISITE:

  1. Preferably with at least one of the following trainings:
    • Basic Occupational Safety and Health training for Safety Officers 1 and 2
    • Basic Occupational Safety and Health training for Nurses
    • Basic Occupational Safety and Health training for Physicians
    • Construction Occupational Safety and Health training


TRAINING OUTCOME:
At the end of the training, participants should be able to enhance their decision-making skills in identifying workers with mental health issues and be able to come up with policies and programs that will address mental health issues in their respective workplaces.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

1. Describe the current facts, issues, and health concerns related to mental health situations globally and nationally.

2. Discuss the legal bases and implementation related to mental health in the Philippines.

3. Analyze the risk factors of common mental health conditions.

4. Recognize stress as the most common mental health issue in the workplace.

5. Apply the tips and strategies in improving workplace mental health.

6. Formulate mental health policy suited in your workplace in accordance with DOLE Department Order 208-20.
